Hi Everyone! How was your week 24/52? π
My wonderful friend, Catan, married the brave and fearless WLJ this past Friday in the Botanical Gardens! It was a grand celebration of love, friendship, and mutual respect. WLJ’s wedding vows, their first dance, and connecting with their friends from all over the US were the highlights of the wedding for me.
2022 Personal Goals
β Goal #1: Manage my binge eating disorder. Every day, I will track my calories to eat around 1500 calories a day. I will record what I eat and post it to this blog to help me better understand what causes me to binge eat.
Eating 1500 Calories a Day: Week 24/52
β Goal #2: Write consistently. 5 to 7 days a week, I will read and follow My 2022 Writing Manifesto.
β Goal #3: Maintain my mental health. 5 to 7 days a week, I will sing three positive songs and sleep before 11:30 PM.
β Goal #4: Maintain my physical health. 5 to 7 days a week, I will meditate for 2 minutes, practice 25 minutes of yoga, and do 10 minutes of weight lifting or cardio.
β Goal #5: Read books to gain knowledge and new perspectives. 5 to 7 days a week, I will read for 30 minutes and I will write down my favorite passage/what I learned on this blog.
This past week, I enjoyed reading Elizabeth Peters’s Crocodile on the Sandbank.
I think my favorite type of book to read is well-researched historical fiction with a sense of humor. Crocodile on the Sandbank is all that and more. It’s about Amelia Peabody, a Victorian-Era feminist with a considerable fortune and so fascinated with archeology and Egypt that she travels there.
Elizabeth Peters was the pseudonym Barbara Mertz who has a PhD in Egyptology from the University of Chicago.
β Goal #6: Become more organized. 5 to 7 days a week, I will spend 10 to 30 minutes organizing.
β Goal #7: Become more physically active. Every week, I will do 1 physical activity like hiking, table tennis, swimming, etc.
This past week, I jogged for 10 minutes and walked along the Riverside Park for 1 hour.

β Goal #8: Improve my listening skills: Every week, I will listen to one podcast or TED talk, and write down what I learned in 1 to 5 sentences.
Bryce talks about how as much as she wants to protect her kids, she does not ask them to opt out of social media because you develop your sense of self by participating in the world. Instead, she sets boundaries such as waiting 48 hours before posting and sharing because she wants to make sure she shares it personally with her loved ones in private before announcing it to the world.
Additionally, when she posts on social media, she asks herself what’s the purpose of this post, and most importantly, how does it serve the people I love?
For me, limiting myself to spending around 30 minutes a day on social media is optimal for my mental and physical health. This way I can feel connected to the world at large without feeling overwhelmed or neglecting other important matters in my life. How about you?
β Goal #9: Emulate Krista Tippet’s (Winner of the National Humanities Medal, Peabody Awards, Webby Awards) way of speaking. Every week, I will listen to Debbie Millman interviewing Krista Tippet and record a passage of Krista’s that I want to emulate.
β Goal #10: Remember my late father through cooking. Every week, I will post one recipe to this blog to remember him.
I realize that every week that I’m struggling more than usual with my eating disorder, I don’t want to think or write about food.
Week 24/52 Goal Summary
β Goals completed: 7
β Goals not completed: 3
This week’s completion percentage: 70%
Dear readers, how was your progression towards your 2022 goals? π
89% Completion this week.
I felt very tense about the wedding this week, and it’s not even my wedding! But having gone through it, it was a great experience. Met some very cool people, and I had a blast.
Come to think of it, many events in my life were this way. There were probably bad experiences too, but so insignificant that I don’t even remember them.
I think this is the way to go through life – expect good things. Move past the bad things, so more good things can come.
I think being the best man is a lot of responsibility and you did a great job standing by Catan on one of the most memorable days of his life. π
