For this year’s Memorial Day, Mark and I invited our dear friend, Catan, and his partner, WLJ to dinner at our apartment.
In trying to decide what to cook for Catan and WLJ, who are world travelers and foodies, it occurred to me that it would be good to make a menu. I took inspiration from my dear friend, Mister Frasier, who makes a menu every time he hosts a dinner party.

It was my first time writing and designing a menu. I enjoyed the process because this way I can remember what I cooked if the dishes complimented each other, and what were everyone’s favorites. For this meal, the favorites were the Garlic Butter, parsley, and cinnamon sugar popovers, panko onion rings, and the All-American BBQ Ribs.

In writing the menu, I tried to make sure that there is a wide range of flavors and textures. I love it when a meal is a balance of savory, tangy, spicy, and sweet. I also love eating a mixture of meat, seafood, veggies, and starches. And most of all, I love the presence of something crispy or crunchy because I ❤️❤️❤️deep-fried foods.

The best thing about cooking lots of food for one meal is that it makes for plenty of leftovers. 🤗

Dessert was chopped watermelon pieces and the super adorable desserts Catan and WLJ brought from Bibble & Sip.
I thoroughly enjoyed planning, making, and eating this meal. Most of all, I enjoyed the conversations at the dinner table.
