In the past, deciding what to wear daily consumed an incredible amount of time, energy, and money. No matter how many clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories I bought, I rarely felt happy with my outfit. I fit neatly into the statistic of wearing about 10% of my wardrobe.
As an aspiring minimalist, wearing about 10% of my clothes bothered me enough to seek a solution. It was through discovering the Stylebook Closet App, a virtual closet of my real-life wardrobe, that I now wear 90% of the clothes in my closet!
It is the best $3.99 purchase I’ve ever made. For over a year now, I’ve used the Stylebook App daily to track what I wore to better understand what I think I like to wear versus what I actually wore.
It was tedious to input every single item (color, brand, cost) I owned except for undergarments and socks. It was also tiresome in the beginning to log what I wore every single day for over a year. Yet it was worth it because it was through the daily tracking I understood what I truly liked versus what I thought I liked.
For example, I’ve always thought and told people my favorite color is yellow. After Stylebook, I realized it is coral red/pink. This is after actively trying to buy and wear more yellow-colored clothing for a year!

I also discovered I no longer love wearing dresses and skirts. According to Stylebook, I wore dresses a total of 6 times and skirts a total of 10 times in the past 485 days, or about 3% of the time. The clothes I wear the most are tee shirts, shorts, jeans, and activewear.

It’s also due to Stylebook that I discarded about 85% of my wardrobe. Many of my female friends thought I was a bit strange. They said things like you only have 12 pairs of footwear?! I’d answer yup, “6 pairs of sneakers, 3 pairs of boots, 2 pairs of slippers, and 1 pair of heels.”
Some friends think my capsule wardrobe means I don’t like fashion or clothing. I assure them it’s because I love clothing as much as minimalism that I want to wear all my favorite pieces more often. These days, I can easily choose an outfit and mostly love wearing it. Much thanks to Stylebook and capsule wardrobe!
